Confession & Repentance
Pastor Nate, continues the series “Something’s Happening” by exploring a characteristic—confession and repentance of sin—that has historically been present when God performs miraculous work in a church or region. Drawing primarily from James chapter 4, verses 1-10, Pastor Nate emphasizes that confession and repentance are integral to following Christ and, when rooted in the belief of Jesus’s love and commitment, are seen not merely as a duty but as a delight that recalibrates a believer for true spiritual flourishing. The message centers on three points: first, listeners are urged to examine their lives to recognize that internal wars, fights, and quarrels originate from unrestrained desires for pleasure, sensuality, power, and honor (hedonism). Second, believers must embrace the seriousness of sin, understanding that “friendship with the world”—the system of beliefs that draws attention away from God—is likened to spousal adultery and makes one an enemy of God. Third, the path forward is to pursue humility, as God continually opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Pastor Nate concludes by encouraging Christians to continually confess and repent because they are saved, and urging non-Christians to confess and repent to be saved by believing upon Christ.
