Connector Breezeway Project Update – August 9

Thank you to everyone who has generously supported our Connector Breezeway Project. We know many of you have been eagerly anticipating its completion, and we wanted to provide an update on our progress and what to expect over the coming weeks.

Over the last couple of months, the project experienced delays due to permitting requirements and the time needed to receive finalized engineering documents. While these items took longer than anticipated, they were essential to ensure the project met all required standards before construction could move forward.

We are excited to share that construction is now moving ahead, and our team has established the following schedule:

August

  • Complete all remaining site work
  • Install underground electrical service
  • Begin concrete work

September-Early October

  • Complete all concrete work
  • Construct the connector breezeway
  • Prepare parking areas for final paving
  • Complete asphalt paving
  • Seal and stripe parking areas
  • Finish final details, inspections, and punch-list items

Our target is to have the Connector Breezeway Project completed within the first week or two of October. While weather and other unforeseen circumstances can always impact construction schedules, our contractors are working toward this goal, and we will continue providing updates as progress is made.

With the slope that Graceland sits on, we are required to have a retention pond. This will not hold water daily, but will catch runoff water from any floods or major rain events. It essentially helps to keep the roadways (Kamer Miller) functional and not washed out. It will be a sloped space but will be grassy. It will also help with the water that sits in that field during large rain events currently.

We understand the delays have been disappointing, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding throughout this process. We are committed to being faithful stewards of the resources God has provided through your generosity and to delivering a project that will serve our church family for many years to come.

Thank you again for your continued prayers, encouragement, and faithful support. We can’t wait to celebrate the completion of this project with you this fall!
